Hello Campers,
We are just days away from the start of the 2024 camping season, and we are excited to welcome you back to the campground! After closing up last fall and this spring, we focused our efforts on completing the laundry room and event washroom that we started last year. With the help of many campers, including Jason Labelle, Trudi Fontaine, and Kevin O’Neill, I am pleased to say that the room will be operational starting this camping season. This week, we traveled to Toronto and picked up the coin-operated washer and dryer, which will be installed this weekend – Exciting stuff!
Below are some campground updates, as well as a high-level summary of some amendments being made to your 2024 License to Occupy, which is attached to this email to address some minor errors and make a couple of significant changes.
Campground Updates:
Laundry Room
- Our most exciting news item is the opening of the laundry room and restroom facilities.
- The laundry room will be open 7 days a week from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm.
- To access the laundry room, you will require a security door card.
- There is a large counter in the room for folding your laundry.
- The use of phosphate-free laundry soap is mandatory to protect the environment; it can be purchased from Management if you need some.
- Cost of the machines is $3.50 per washer/dryer load, and you will need coins to pay. Management will have limited coins available if needed.
- Please be respectful of the machines and wipe them down after using them. Always empty the dryer lint filter before and after each use.
Public Washroom Facility
- Part of the laundry room includes a public washroom facility.
- This will be open and available during campground events.
- This is not an extra washroom for campers or their guests to use, simply a washroom for convenience when events are in place.
Campground Rec-Center Tent
- This year, we will be setting up a second tent to provide more covered space for campers when events are in progress or to use throughout the season.
- Please clean up after yourselves, and if you see a garbage can is full, take the bag to the bin and let Angela or us know, and we will ensure a new one is put in place.
Campground Expansion
- Currently, all expansion plans are on hold.
- As we work with the municipality, MECP, and the MNR to get approvals in place, minor changes and adjustments will be made as required.
Campground Fees and Payments (no significant change just a reminder)
- All fees are due on the date stated in the LTO offered to you in the fall of each year with the following schedule:
- Deposit due in September on the date identified when the LTO is offered to you in August.
- Final payment is required the first camping weekend of the season – this year the deadline is May 4th, 2024.
- A $250.00 late payment fee will be applied to all overdue accounts.
- The campground does not accept Electronic Funds Transfers of any kind currently. Although this may change in the future, it is NOT an option at this time.
- It is your responsibility to set up an appointment using the online scheduling tool OR make arrangements with the Manager for payment prior to the due date.
- If you have not yet reserved your time, you can click here to do so: link
- If you are unsure of what you owe when you get your bank draft/cheque, please email management@wlcg.ca for the info – we do NOT accept cash.
- If you decide you are not remaining at the campground for the camping season, your site must be vacated and cleaned no later than May 12th, 2024.
Note: Many people of asked why the fees appear to be due early. The answer is simple, the campground opens officially for business on May 1st and as with any service business, the payment is due before the service Is delivered. The campground incurs significant expenses throughout the season particularly during start up. We are fortunate because many campgrounds require payment long before the season begins. In the past, payments at WLCG were required to be mailed in prior to the start of the camping season and campers were not allowed on site if not received.
Boat / Trailer / Storage on site
- Anything left on your site during the winter season for storage must be removed by May 5th, 2024, and moved to the trailer parking area (or removed from park) as applicable.
- We will be relocating trailer storage to the pit once the cleanup is completed later this season.
Yard Waste – Pine needles & Leaves
- Again, this year the dump trailer will be placed in visitors parking where you may dump your bagged yard waste and debris (i.e.: pine needles, leaves, or any broken branches). If the trailer is full, please keep it on your site until we have dumped it.
- If you have other garbage (furniture, construction material etc.) you must dispose of it on your own and it cannot be put in the campground bin or on the property / pit. We are not equipped to deal with this and as most of you have seen clean-up of the pit has been a large time-consuming operation.
Firewood
- Anyone needing firewood this season please reach out to Angela and Greg Giles at lot 43 and they will be able to supply it to you.
- If they are unable to provide due to demand, please confirm with management where you are getting the wood from prior to ordering it.
- We are required to record the import of wood to the campground by the MNR for the 2024 camping season.
Access Cards
- If you would like to use the laundry room, you will require an access card to get into the building. This is to protect the building and the campers.
- There is a $20.00 cash deposit required for each card which is refundable should you decide you no longer want access to the facilities.
- Should the card / key fob be lost, the $20.00 deposit will be forfeited, and a new one will be required along with another deposit.
- Access to the washroom does not require a door card during events, it will be unlocked however, the washroom is only available for use DURING campground events.
Security Cameras
- Based on Poll results and camper feedback, outdoor security camera’s unless approved by Management for the purpose of protecting the campground property that are located on campers’ sites will not be allowed during the campground season.
- The campground does have cameras installed for protection of the property and facilities.
- Somebody is onsite 24-7 during the camping season reducing the concern of theft / vandalism.
- Outdoor Cameras are permitted off-season (December 1st through March 31st annually).
Visitors
- Visitors must be registered prior to entering campground property.
- It is the responsibility of the camper to ensure that the registration is completed.
- Registration can be completed by clicking this link: link
Speed Limit in the Campground:
- The speed limit in the campground is 10 km/hr and is strictly enforced for both campers and guests driving cars, trucks, or motorcycles.
- We have an increasing number of children, grandchildren, seniors, etc., and their safety is of utmost importance to the community.
Campground LTO (License to Occupy) and Rules and Regulations Amendments:
- White Lake Campground (WLCG) reserves the right to occasionally make amendments to the LTO and Rules and Regulations. Using your computer you can click HERE to download the PDF which includes the 2024 amendments. These take effect immediately upon receipt. Please review these carefully, sign the downloaded document, and return it with your 2024 seasonal payment or via email before that date.
